An undocumented feature, apparently

This company has recently upgraded to a new phone system, and it's impressive -- a user's PC can exercise almost complete control over the phone, reports a net admin pilot fish on the scene.

"One day about a month after the upgrade, I got a call from one of our receptionists, using her cell phone," fish says.

"She complained that she had to reboot her PC and now she couldn't answer the incoming calls, and she was the only receptionist on duty at the time.

"I asked her if she tried picking up the handset on the telephone and saying hello.

"She said, 'You mean we can still do that?'"
